The home accidents happen, is a reality. Anyone can let go of something near the kitchen fire, or leave an item near the electric heater, or a carpet too close to the wood stove that can warm any breaststroke …
Some things are inevitable, and the fire is undoubtedly one of the most common. But gentlemen, for that is that there are fire extinguishers or fire extinguisher. Most people do not have them simply because they are not pretty … Well, that's not its function.
Having one at home can be really advantageous when accidents occur. They may not be cheap but investing in one of them may be what saves your home into a future accident. That if, when you use it you should know or will not make sense, right? Well, today I told you how to use it.
First of all you should know that there are different kinds of fire extinguishers according to their contents (water, carbon dioxide, powder, foam, halogenated) that fight the various types of fire. Each must be identified with the letters A, B, C and D, indicating that type of fire are:
A: solid materials (wood, paper, plastics).
B: liquid or gaseous fuel (paints, solvents, oils, gasoline).
C: electrical installations.
D: combustible metals.
If a fire starts, try to determine the origin and use the appropriate extinguisher. Take off the plastic seal and remove the insurance (the lock wire on the handle or key). Make a test by pressing the handle or by turning the key to make sure it goes well.
Stand at a distance of approximately 3 meters: if there is wind, position yourself so that you fire away. Aim the nozzle at the base of the flame and move it from side to side as if you were sweeping the fire. If the fire spreads vertically, pointing toward the base and makes a gentle upward motion to extinguish the flame from below.
Obviously you should call the fire department when you can, and if the fire spread too fast you should always leave the place soon.
