When entering a room or interior space will feel more comfortable if your eye rests on a main article. The main article in the room is called “focal point”.

If your room has a beautiful window looking onto a garden, that window will be its focal point. If you have a wood stove, large or small, that will be the focal point of the room.

Sometimes a room has no item that is distinguished and has to create one. Here are some ideas of focal points that can add to your room.

• A large cabinet cabinet or other high.

• A beautiful Oriental rug or patterns.

• A table with a collection of interesting pieces on it.

• A dramatic mirror or panel of fabric.

• A collection that hangs on the wall, as tools, umbrellas, family photos or decorative hats.

• A large shelf for storing books and collectibles interspersed with plants.

The point of creating focal points is to select something that attracts the eye and invite the visitor to stay and enjoy.
